Problem

Problem

British Council, as part of its global Next Generation series of research studies, sought to gain an understanding of the make-up, experiences, needs, attitudes and aspirations of young people (age 16-30) in Vietnam in 2019. We were asked to highlight gaps and opportunities for youth voices to be amplified and engaged by policy-makers, as well as examples of best practices and to provide recommendations for how engagement with young people could be improved by policymakers and other key stakeholder audiences.
Approach

Approach

We conducted a nationwide research study to uncover the needs, potential, and aspirations of Vietnamese youth (age 16-30) as the country experiences rapid economic transition coupled with demographic and societal changes. The research utilised a mixed-method approach encompassing desk research, a face-to-face nationally representative quantitative survey (n=1,000), focus group discussions (n=~25), and in-depth interviews. Through our research, delved into the composition, experiences, needs, attitudes and aspirations of young people in Vietnam.
